MEET MELBOURNE MODEL SIOBHAN TAYLOR

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Four years ago I would have been asking Sioban these questions in french while our teacher eavesdropped from one table to the next. Skip forward to the present day and we're both a little bit closer to our dreams of Paris Fashion Week. She's pretty awesome and it's about time you got to know her too!

Siobhan Taylor is...

I like to think of myself as fun loving and always up for a challenge. I love baking cakes, yoga and my beautiful family. I'm first a University student then a Model, I pride myself on my attitude to education and then my success as a Model.

As a newbie to the Melbourne scene, what kickstarted your modelling career?

Firstly it was my eldest sister's encouragement which made me apply myself and go to an interview with London MGT Group. From here it was getting work with the wonderful team at Mossman Clothing that really kickstarted it all.

Favourite shoot you have worked on to date?

My favourite shoots include working with Dhav Naidu and Ed Purnomo for the Weekly Review. Having featured twice in the Weekly Review for the Spring Racing Carnival, what made these shoots wonderful was the attention to detail. Working with Nicole Corbett for Fashion Trend magazine was amazing. I had to channel my inner warrior and goddess and I loved the images. Working for Hugo Boss at their in house showroom was an absolute highlight and pleasure.

What's life for Siobhan like in between modelling?

In between modelling, I'm generally studying or spending time with family and friends. My favourite mornings off include going out for breakfast and going for a walk. An ideal afternoon is usually spent in the company of friends catching up the week's news. I love spending my evenings with my boyfriend, whether it's cooking together or going out and seeing friends.

Favourite place in the world?

There's no place like home. I absolutely love Melbourne. If I had to say another place, I would narrow it down to Paris and Berlin. I love Paris for its modernity and Berlin for its history and emerging youth culture.

Favourite designer- local & international?

My favourite international designer would have to be Rick Owens. His clothes are innovative, functional and elegant. My favourite Melbourne teams would be Pilgrim Clothing and Mossman Clothing.

Your future aspirations?

Ultimately if I can do what I love, I'll be happy. I'll Model for as long as I still love doing it. I think it's exhilarating and challenging. In this industry you need to dream big and work hard, which is what I intend to keep doing.
